Execution is the most common diagnosis.
We just need to execute better. More discipline. More accountability. More follow-through.
Execution is visible. So it becomes the target.
But execution is an output.
It is produced by strategy, meaning what we are trying to do. By structure, meaning how the organization is designed. And by leadership, meaning how decisions are made and carried.
If any of those are unclear, execution will be inconsistent.
Not because people are failing. Because they are operating without the conditions required to succeed.
When companies push harder on execution without changing the system, effort increases, frustration increases, and results improve temporarily before regressing.
When the system changes, execution improves as a byproduct.
The real question is not how to execute better.
It is what is preventing execution from happening naturally.
